PORTLAND, Ore. — A protest blocked all lanes for 90 minutes on Interstate 405 early Saturday evening. All lanes are now open, ODOT said.
Southbound Everett Street was closed, as well as all lanes at I-405's intersection with U.S. Highway 26, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
ODOT added that traffic was also backed up from the south end of Fremont Bridge and that drivers should expect delays and find an alternative route, including those headed on the southbound Interstate 5 to the Marquam Bridge.
Palestinian flags were seen on cars, and "Free Palestine" was written on some car windows.
At one point, it caused a miles-long backup.
The closure was reported by ODOT at 2:51 p.m.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said it was monitoring the situation.
