Former Miss Washington Peggy Sue Thomas was sentenced to four years in prison for her conviction as an accomplice in the murder of Russel Douglas in 2003.
In August 2012, James Huden was sentenced to 80 years in prison for first-degree murder in the shooting death of Douglas, almost nine years after the crime occurred.
Thomas and Huden were dating at the time of the murder.
Douglas was killed just after Christmas in 2003 on Whidbey Island. He spent Christmas day with his estranged wife and children, and left December 26th.
His body was found in his car with a single gunshot wound to his head the next day.
In July 2011, Thomas was arrested in New Mexico, where she lived on her houseboat Off the Hook for plotting with Huden.
Huden, who had lived with his wife in Florida, was charged with murder in 2005 and arrested that June in Mexico.
Prior to the murder, Thomas had lived on Whidbey Island and worked at a beauty shop owned by Douglas' wife. She competed as Miss Washington in the Miss U.S. Continental Pageant in 2000.
