BOISE, Idaho — In April, Ada County Deputy Tobin Bolter was killed in the line of duty, and the community came together to honor him throughout the Treasure Valley.
Tuesday marks the official registration opening for the recently named Tobin Bolter Memorial Kids’ Duathlon, which was previously known as the Ada Counties Kids' Duathlon. The event will continue to have a 250-participant cap, so officials urge the public to register soon.
On June 14, after coordination with Bolter's family and the Ada County Sheriff's Office, the event's name was changed to honor the 27-year-old deputy.
"Deputy Bolter was an avid runner who was passionate about family and community, so it only seems fitting to honor him at this event, which celebrates so many of the things he loved," Ada County officials said in a news release.
The free event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ada Eagle Bike Park.
