BOISE, Idaho — After nearly 50 years in broadcasting, Idaho's Chief Meteorologist Rick Lantz has announced that he plans to retire later this year.
Rick has been a trusted voice guiding residents of the Treasure Valley through every kind of weather event. His warm personality, creative on-air deliveries, and unparalleled professionalism have made him a beloved figure in the homes of viewers across our region.
Rick came to the Treasure Valley in 1969. He began his broadcasting career in 1975 working in both radio and television in Weiser, Caldwell, Nampa and Boise. He has been bringing you the weather forecast for over 40 years on Idaho's NewsChannel 7.
Over the years, he has earned the reputation as being the region's most reliable and popular weather forecaster, winning several awards from the Idaho State Broadcasters Association and the Idaho Press Club. Rick is the only meteorologist in the Treasure Valley to earn both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association seals.
Rick will continue to bring you his daily forecast on KTVB until September 26.
