PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon Senator Ron Wyden announced a live online town hall on Tuesday hosted by People's Town Hall for residents of Malheur County. This town hall is for residents to ask questions of his staff and local supporters of his Community Empowerment of the Owyhee (CEO) Act. The online town hall is open to all county residents.

Wyden said, "This landmark Owyhee legislation shows the entire country how a rural Oregon community can come together to preserve both a natural treasure and a rich agriculture heritage that generates jobs."

"The Malheur CEO Act is the product of a local process driven by ranchers, conservationists and Tribal leaders putting the 'Oregon Way' into practice by rolling up their sleeves and designing solid solutions."

The meeting is a follow-up to his in-person town hall Wyden held on June 23 in Ontario for Malheur County residents to discuss the CEO Act and other local and national issues impacting the eastern Oregon county.

The CEO Act is proposed to help preserve the Owyhee landscape through flexible grazing management systems.

In his opening remarks at an Energy and Natural Resources, Public Lands, Forests, and Mining Subcommittee hearing, Wyden stated that this piece of legislation would preserve not just a treasured landscape for its beauty but also preserves our agricultural heritage and way of life.

The town hall will begin at noon Mountain Time on Oct. 31 and can be streamed live at this link.
