BOISE, Idaho — A shelter-in-place order at Capital High and Valley View Elementary has been lifted as police suspend their search for a suspect.
Ada County Dispatch told KTVB on Friday that a suspect ran away from officers in that area. He remains at large.
"After a thorough search, officers believe the suspect is no longer in the area and the ground search has been discontinued," Boise Police said in a tweet. "Both schools have been released to go back to normal operations."
The suspect is believed to be 45-year-old Tommy Nash, who is under investigation for multiple car thefts. According to Boise Police, officers in Garden City tried to pull Nash over just before 10:30 a.m. Friday on Chinden Boulevard.
The driver sped west, then turned south onto Glenwood Street. Police say Nash ultimately crashed into a house on Bridlewood, got out, and ran away.

All students and staff were safe during the incident, according to the Boise School District. Police say there was no known threat to the schools themselves, and that the shelter-in-place order was a precaution.
Nash is described as a Hispanic man who is about 5'8" and 165 pounds. He had his hair in a ponytail and was wearing a dark-colored Adidas T-shirt, black pants and black and white shoes. He was carrying a backpack or slingpack, according to police.
The search drew a large police presence to the area. Officers set up a perimeter around Glenwood Street and Goddard Road, using police dogs and a drone to look for the man.
Boise School District spokesman Dan Hollar said classes and other school operations are still going on. The schools were not placed in lockdown.
Anyone who spots the suspect is urged to call police. The investigation is still ongoing.
