Single vehicle collision in Boise kills 1, injures 1

BOISE, Idaho — A woman is dead, and a man is in critical condition after a fiery car crash in Boise.

Boise Fire and Police responded to a single car crash on Tuesday night around 10 p.m. near North Owyhee Street and West Malad Street.

When first responders arrived, they provided life-saving care to two people, a woman and a man. They took both to local hospitals. The woman, who was driving, died. The man, who was the passenger, is still in critical condition, according to Boise Police.

Boise Police believe that the driver was going south on Owyhee Street at a high rate of speed, and then lost control and hit the median between Malad Street and Owyhee Street. The car then caught fire.

Before first responders were able to get to the scene, bystanders were able to get the passenger out of the car. First responders were able to get the driver out and put out the fire.

Boise Police's Crash Reconstruction Team, as well as detectives, are investigating the crash, and the area will remain closed to do so.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released later.

The victim's identity will be released following notification of family.
