GEM COUNTY, Idaho — A man who was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Emmett on April 10 died at an area hospital, Idaho State Police said in an update released Wednesday.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of East 12th Street and South Substation Road around 10 p.m. on April 10. The road was closed at the time due to construction at the intersection of Substation and Highway 16.

A Subaru Legacy, driven by a 41-year-old Idaho Falls man, went around the closed road signs, and continued north on Substation Road. According to ISP, the driver crashed into a pile of dirt and the Subaru came to a stop on the driver's side.

He died from traumatic blunt force injuries at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, according to a news release from the coroner. Police said Gutke was taken to the hospital by air ambulance following the crash.
