BOISE -- Traffic was backed up for several hours last night after a crash involving two ski buses and two vehicles.

The wreck happened on Bogus Basin Road Thursday at about 9:45 p.m.

According to Ada County Dispatch, a ski bus headed south slid sideways while making a right turn. The driver of the school bus following behind could not stop in time and hit the rear bumper of the first bus. The driver of a sedan then struck the second bus. And an SUV behind the sedan could not stop and also collided with the rear of the second bus.

Paramedics took one of the students to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was treated and released to his family.

The two buses were transporting 57 students from Lake Ridge Elementary School in Nampa and six adult chaperones. Nampa School District officials say they were on a fifth grade ski trip sponsored by Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. The buses were provided by Caldwell Transportation.

Witnesses on scene told KTVB at least 30 cars were backed up behind the wreck.

Bogus Basin staff asked skiers to remain at the lodge while crews were clearing the scene, to avoid more traffic heading down the mountain while emergency personnel was working.

No citations have been issued in connection with the crash.

Deputies say they want to remind drivers that Bogus Basin Road is still very slick, and that people need to drive carefully.

The road was closed for over three hours, Both lanes of traffic reopened at 12:50 a.m. Friday.
