South Fork Salmon River Road will be temporarily closed for chip sealing

Roads 474 and Road 674 will undergo construction in the month of August.

BOISE, Idaho — Two roads around the South Fork Salmon River will be closed in August while contractors perform improvements on the asphalt road surface. 

The Boise National Forest stated in their press release that The Boise National Forest portion of the road (Road 474), that begins at the junction with the Warm Lake Highway near Warm Lake, going north for 12 miles to the forest's boundary with the Payette National Forest, will be closed August 5 - 8, all day.

They also stated The Payette National Forest portion of the road (Road 674) from its boundary with the Boise National Forest northward to its junction at the East Fork Road will be closed August 5 - 23. It will stay closed between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.  However, it will be open on weekends to the public.

Lick Creek Road and Johnson Creek Road will be open to give drivers access to the East Fork of the South Fork Salmon River and Yellow Pine. 

Work being done includes chip sealing the entire road, helping improve user-comfort and prolong life of the road.
