BOISE, Idaho — St. Luke's Medical Center in Boise is having construction work done to the Emergency Room and main entrance, resulting in a road closure on East Bannock Street.
East Bannock Street, off of Avenue B, will be closed starting Monday, Dec. 11. Commuters can expect construction closures to last two weeks. Drivers will need to use Avenue A or Bannock Street via 1st Street to access the Boise Emergency Department and main hospital entrance, stated a news release from St. Luke's. The road closure is expected to last until Dec. 24.
Reader boards and detour signs will be erected to help direct people to the hospital. Parking in the provided parking garages across from the hospital will remain open during construction.
The closure will allow crews to replace a water main located underneath the road, a project done in preparation for the Boise Campus Development Project, a multi-year project. Plans for the project include the construction of a multi-story tower and a medical office plaza.
In September, St. Luke's began work on multiple construction projects on the Boise St. Luke's campus, as part of a new plan to upgrade and enhance the hospital.
The new hospital tower will be constructed north of the existing hospital between Avenue B and 1st Street. The tower will have two stories underground and nine stories above ground - which is one story shorter than the existing St. Luke's tower, which will remain, St. Luke's said.
The new medical office plaza will be constructed to integrate into the new tower. The plaza will connect over 1st Street to the new patient parking garage built in 2021.
