GARDEN CITY, Idaho — St. Vincent de Paul of Southwest Idaho is handing out more than 3,000 meal boxes this Thanksgiving season.
With growing grocery and housing costs, the organization said they are seeing an increased demand for help.
This is the 48th year the organization has helped feed Idahoans for Thanksgiving. To make the food box campaign happen, St. Vincent de Paul relies on hundreds of volunteers and donations from the community.
$80 can provide a full Thanksgiving meal for a family in need. The boxes include a turkey, stuffing mix and all the traditional fixings.
The non-profit is still looking to put together 400 more food boxes to meet their needs.
"We feel like it's an amazing opportunity for families in the Treasure Valley to support other families through this program, to be able to ensure that that people throughout the Treasure Valley eat well and have a Thanksgiving meal," said Ralph May, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul of Southwest Idaho.
The deadline to register for a food box has passed, but there's an opportunity for people to get left over or boxes not picked up. The non-profit will be giving away any left-over boxes on Tuesday, Nov. 26th on a first come first served basis.
If you did register ahead of time for a food box, look for instructions on when and how to pick them up from St. Vincent de Paul.
