Students pitch business ideas in 8th High School Entrepreneur Challenge

40 students across Idaho pitched their business idea to win cash prizes totaling $3,900.

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho students have been working on getting their business ideas out of the classroom and into the store.

Boise State University’s Venture College hosted its 8th Annual High School Entrepreneur Challenge.

BSU Venture College Director Cara Van Sant said, “Our whole goal is to help student entrepreneurs launch their business ideas. It starts at a young age, we start connecting with students at the high school level, and really build a pipeline.”

“40 Idaho students competed to get their product noticed and win some cash along the way. We are very passionate about our project. And we might be able to win some money doing it, " said student Sophia Miller.

The competition is divided into 2 tracks: products/services and technology.

Students represented Idaho high schools from the Treasure Valley, Coeur d’Alene and Blackfoot.

More than 20 judges are provided feedback and resources for kids to will cash prizes totaling $3,900.

Some students said their product took them a year to complete.  

Here are the winners of the competition: 

Technology track winning teams:

1st place: Make-It-Up Machine, North Idaho STEM Charter Academy

2nd place: Studace, Timberline/Boise High

3rd place: Lambda Computers, Capital High School

4th place: Cinematch, Meridian Technical Charter

Product + services track winning teams:

1st place: Loba Boba, Bishop Kelly High School

2nd place: Mammicure, North Idaho STEM Charter Academy

3rd place: SereniTea, Onestone

4th place: Brown's Auto Repair, Capital High School
