SUN VALLEY, Idaho — Get stoked snow enthusiasts! Sun Valley Resort announced on Wednesday announced opening day for its 88th season is set for Thursday, Nov. 23.
This is a holiday tradition for Sun Valley to begin ski operations on Thanksgiving Day. Despite working with limited snow from a "late starting winter season" across the Gem State, the resort is continuing the celebratory tradition with the help of its snowmaking technologies.
Sun Valley Resort said it will open River Run Express and Lower River Run on Thursday. According to a news release, the resort is anticipating colder temperatures and more snowfall in the coming weeks, which will help build a base layer of snow and benefit snowmaking.
The River Run Base Lodge and Bar will be open to everyone Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the servery open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun Valley's website said a DJ will be at the celebration and the first arrivals will get a free annual opening day mug.
