BOISE, Idaho — On Wednesday, the City of Nampa said the company that wants to build a concrete plant near the airport appealed Planning and Zoning's decision denying its conditional use permit.
Sunroc was previously granted a CUP for the project in 2023. However, the city revoked the permit early this year after the company failed to apply for permits on time.
After a six-hour meeting with public testimony in late February, the commission voted 5-4 to reject Sunroc's second CUP. The company had 15 days to appeal the decision.
The Utah-based construction company wants to build the plant in a 7.83-acre area zoned light industrial. Community members against the plant are worried about health risks, traffic, property values taking a hit, etc.
A date for a public hearing before the City Council has not been set. For further information about the Feb. 27 council meeting, visit our here.
