BOISE, Idaho — A 23-year-old woman has been arrested on burglary and battery charges following a stabbing incident in Boise.
Boise Police Department (BPD) reported that shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, they received a call about a home invasion near West Washington Street and 14th Street near downtown Boise.
Based on evidence at the scene, police said the suspect allegedly broke into the victim's home and stabbed her multiple times before the victim was able to get away.
Officers secured the scene, which resulted in the closing of West Washington Street and 14th Street. The suspect, Farida Mathew, was still inside the home, and police had to work to remove her.
The victim was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, BPD said.
With Mathew inside the home, the Boise Police Special Operations Unit responded, along with crisis negotiators, who made contact with Mathew. Roughly four hours after the incident began, Mathew left the house and was taken into custody.
She is facing charges of burglary and battery, both felony charges.
