BOISE, Idaho — The Ada County Coroner's Office on Wednesday identified the man who was shot and killed by deputies at the Optimist Youth Sports Complex in Boise on Tuesday night.
The coroner's office announced it was dispatched to the complex around 6:31 p.m. Tuesday for a police shooting. The office identified the suspect as 43-year-old Lucas Alleman from Star, who died at the scene from his injuries after being shot by Ada County deputies in the neck and torso.
ACSO on Tuesday said deputies were searching for a suspect involved in a felony sex crime case and found him at the complex, as previously reported. A spokesperson said the suspect had also made suicidal statements.
When deputies approached the suspect, the spokesperson said he did not listen to their commands and pulled out a gun. The sheriff's office said deputies at the scene shot him around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
It is unclear if both deputies hit the man and how many times. It is also unclear what the pursuit looked like leading up to when the suspect and deputies got to the park.
A spokesperson said there were "activities at the other side of the park. However, the incident was isolated and away from them."
KTVB spoke with several neighbors about the shooting, and Ashley Gallegos said she was in her room when she heard two sounds that she said sounded like explosions.
"Its definitely an uneasy feeling," she said. "Especially because I grew up here and not used to being around that."
The Ada County Sheriff's Office said the deputies began life-saving measures, but the suspect died at the scene. No deputies were injured.
Both deputies are on administrative leave per ACSO policy. The Boise Police Department is leading the Critical Incident Task Force investigation.
"Because the investigation is ongoing, no additional information will be released about this incident at this time," a news release said.
