ONTARIO, Ore. - An Ontario man has been arrested after sheriff''s officials say he stole thousands of dollars worth of equipment and gift cards from a Malheur Education Service District building.
Nicholas Michael Anthony Grove, 27, was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with last month's break-in. Officials say 14 new laptops - earmarked for students at Vale High School - and a small safe were stolen June 16 or 17.
The safe contained checks, Walmart credit cards, and a gift card to Staples. The value of the stolen items exceeded $5,000, according to the Malheur County Sheriff's Office.
Someone tried to use the credit cards at a Nampa Walmart and an Ontario Walmart after the burglary. Law enforcement released surveillance photos of the person who used the cards, but have not yet said whether they believe the man is Grove.
Grove was arrested after deputies found evidence during a Wednesday search at 1018 SW 5th Avenue in Ontario. He has been booked into the Malheur County Jail.
