NEZ PERCE COUNTY, Idaho — Are you looking for something to do this weekend in Idaho? The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests and other groups are hosting the 34th annual Free Fishing Day!
Free Fishing Day will be celebrated at locations near Grangeville, Pierce and Lowell. Anyone can celebrate fishing without a license. Some locations will have fishing gear that fishers can borrow, but you are encouraged to bring your own gear to prepare for the day.
Near Grangeville, you can check out the Free Fishing Day activities at Wilkins' Pond on Lake Road off Highway 95, which is around 5.5 miles south of Grangeville. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be a casting contest, a fish art activity, a raffle drawing and more. Participants will also get free hot dogs and drinks courtesy of the Grangeville Lions Club.
Near Pierce, head to the Deer Creek Reservoir, where Free Fishing Day will coincide with the Deer Creek Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 8, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
And finally, near Lowell, you can enjoy Free Fishing Day at Fenn Pond, which is across from Fenn Ranger Station on Forest Service Road #223.
All fishing rules and regulations will remain in effect on Free Fishing Day.
