Ski season to officially begin at Tamarack Friday

The resort will open one chairlift on Dec. 8. Operating hours are daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

TAMARACK, Idaho — Tamarack Resort announced that the 2023-24 ski season will begin on Friday, Dec. 8. However, with limited snow amounts, only one chairlift will be in operation. 

The resort announced Wednesday they will operate their Discovery chairlift. which gives skiers access to Discovery run. They addressed that Mother Nature hasn't been cooperating.

"As weather conditions allow, we'll open more lifts and mountain access so skiers and riders can enjoy all 1,385 acres of terrain—a 25% increase over previous seasons," said Wolfe Ashcraft Tamarack, vice president of mountain operations.

Starting Friday, the resort's operating hours will be 9 a.m. through 4. p.m. every day of the week. With limited terrain, lift tickets will cost $15. Children under six can ski for free.

On opening day, they will offer free smores from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and karaoke from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The next day, they will offer the Ski Bus and a DJ. Two people will be crowned "King and Queen of Disco" who use the chairlift the most, and a movie screening will be held later in the day.  

The resort provided a list of new additions once they received more snow.

  • North America's Best Ski Restaurant—The Reserve
