NEW PLYMOUTH -- The Payette County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed near new Plymouth Tuesday night.
Deondre Kinney of Payette was fatally wounded at a home in the 5000 block of Highway 52. Kinney lived at the house, sheriff's officials say.
Deputies responding to a report of gunshots at 8:18 p.m. found Kinney dead. The details surrounding his death remain under investigation, and no one has been charged in connection to the shooting.
Payette County Sheriff's Office Lt. Andy Creech said Kinney did not shoot himself. Investigators are working to determine whether he was the victim of a homicide or an accidental shooting.
Creech said detectives know who else was in the home when Kinney was shot, and have conducted multiple interviews. An autopsy was conducted Thursday morning.
The sheriff's office described the shooting as an isolated incident, and say there is no threat to the public.
