TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The Twin Falls Police Department (TFPD) is investigating a school threat circulating on social media. Police said there is no confirmed threat at this time.
The department said at 5:05 p.m. on Friday, they were made aware of a "threat of violence" against Twin Falls School District schools alleged to take place on Sept. 16. The department began investigating immediately to find out where the post came from.
"Our department and Twin Falls School District take safety and threats very seriously. At this time, we have no valid confirmed threat to any of the schools in Twin Falls School District," TFPD said in a news release.
Police said that even though there is no confirmed threat at this time, they want to assure parents that the safety of students remains their top priority.
"Please remind your children of the dangers of social media and rumors. If they receive any posts or hear rumors that are dangerous or a threat to others, please ask them to report it to an adult and school officials, and not to forward it to other students," TFPD said in a news release.
Police said they were also made aware of threats at other places in the state in the past week.
