BOISE, Idaho — While many of us are sitting down this Thanksgiving with friends and family, there are some who aren’t able to because they have to work.
At the Boise Stage Stop this year, like many others, employees are making sure the truck drivers who pass through can still enjoy a good Thanksgiving meal for free.
“We are saying thank you to all of the drivers on the road who can’t be home for Thanksgiving and to join our family here at the Stage Stop for the day,” said Boise Stage Stop’s Co-Manager, Cathy Reichert.
The meal is complete with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.
Reichert has been working at the Stage Stop for 21 years and is familiar with all of the truck drivers who pass through.
“A lot of them are my friends because I’ve been here for so long, so it's like coming home week, everyone comes and it's good, it's like family,” Reichert said.
This year’s meal is something truck driver James appreciates because he couldn’t be with his family in West Virginia.
“It means a lot because I was feeling a little lonely and just on a whim decided to stop here and I was blown away at how nice it is and a free meal which I didn’t expect which was really nice,” James said.
