MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho -- Thousands of people took part in festivities celebrating the high-flying branch of the U.S. military Saturday.
Air Force Appreciation Day in Mountain Home featured the state's largest parade with dozens of floats, as well as classic cars, fire trucks, and drill and cheer teams.
Both Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter and Lt. Gov. Brad Little were on hand for the celebration, volunteering on the food line in Carl Miller Park.
"The streets were full of people having a good time, a lot of energy, great time to tell our military how much we appreciate them," said Otter. "And that's why all these families turn out for this."
About 4,500 people are employed at Mountain Home Air Force Base, which contributes millions of dollars to Idaho's economy.
