BOISE, Idaho — Tracy Andrus, the middle daughter of Carol Andrus and former Idaho Governor Cecil D. Andrus, and president of the Andrus Center for Public Policy, passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 68.
A representative for the Andrus Center for Public Policy said in a statement Wednesday, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Andrus Center for Public Policy's fearless leader, Tracy Andrus. Tracy was a remarkable woman whose life was dedicated to service, advocacy, and the enduring legacy of her esteemed family."
Tracy was involved in various local and statewide public policy issues. The Boise State University alum was the president of Andrus Center for Public Policy at the time of her death, a position she held since 2014.
"Tracy was more than a public figure; she was a warm, genuine soul who, like her father Cece, was enthusiastic about improving the future of Idaho. Her impact will be felt far beyond the confines of her earthly presence," said Emily Wakild, Cecil D. Andrus Endowed Chair for the Environment and Public Lands.
Some of Tracy's career accomplishments and titles include senior vice-president for Blue Cross, small business owner and business consultant. Her father, Cecil D. Andrus, was Idaho's 26th and 28th governor. He also served as the Secretary of the Interior from 1977 to 1981.
"Her unwavering dedication to the Andrus Center and its work built nationally respected forums for addressing vital public policy issues of our time–wise use of environmental resources and public lands, ensuring children enter the classroom ready to learn, and cultivating leadership from all segments of our society," the statement read. "Tracy's indomitable spirit, grace, and unwavering dedication to public service expanded the Andrus legacy. Her father was well-known for his love of the outdoors and for preserving the West's open spaces. Tracy continued this legacy, championing the Andrus Center's environmental and public lands work."
