BOISE, Idaho — Treefort Music Festival is poised to take over downtown Boise.
The annual festival, which starts Wednesday, is a boon for bands and music enthusiasts but can cause some unexpected detours for drivers hoping to cut through downtown Boise.
12th Street will be closed between Main and Front streets, while Grove will be closed between 11th and 14th streets. The road closures will be in effect starting Wednesday, and running through 6:30 a.m. Monday.
In addition, drivers should expect some congestion and parking throughout the end of the weekend. Treefort draws large crowds to the Main Stage area and other venues around downtown, so drivers are also urged to keep an eye out for pedestrians.
For those who want to skip driving altogether, Valley Regional Transit will run buses along a festival route - dubbed "Treeline" - Wednesday through Saturday.
The Treeline buses will run from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. between 4th and 14th on Main and Idaho streets, with stops at Main Street Station, 5th and Main, Idaho and Capitol Boulevard, Idaho and 11th, Main and 13th and Main and 11th.
The Treeline shuttle is free to everyone. In addition, those with festival wristbands can ride any regular Valley Regional Transit bus route for free during the festival.
