BOISE, Idaho — A first of its kind conference is being hosted in Boise this week, with tribal leaders coming together to discuss affordable housing, a news release announced.
Enterprise Community Partners are hosting the inaugural National Tribal Housing Ecosystem Summit in Boise Aug. 27-29. The goal of the summit is to "bring together leaders in the tribal community to inspire and spur ideas on investments and partnership that support the Indigenous housing ecosystem and support resilient communities," the news release announced.
Enterprise Community Partners said, 40% of on-reservation housing is considered standard, and nearly one-third of homes on-reservation are considered overcrowded. That's why the conversations at the event are so critical for communities to discuss.
Communities represented include the Crow Nation, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Northern Cheyenne Tribe and more.
While not only discussing affordable housing, they are also talking about the strengths of the Indian nations, and how they are developing and growing.
