BOISE, Idaho — For the sixth month in a row, Idaho's unemployment has been steadly under 5%.
In a press release from the Department of Labor, it is reported that Idaho's unemployment rate was 3.3% in March. Unemployment decreased by 63 people, or -0.2% to mark a new total number of unemployed Idahoans to 32,313.
Other key highlights include Idaho being the first in the nation for over-the-year nonfarm job growth, coming in at 3.7% increase.
The Gem State had a labor force increase of 2,029 people between February and March, and the labor force participation rate held steady at 62.6%.
Nationally, between February and March, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.1%. The number of unemployed people decreased by 29,000 people. Non-farm job employment did raise by 0.2%.
Year-over-year, Idaho saw an increase of 1.7% from March of 2023 to March of 2024, with an increase of 16,276 people.
Also noted in the press release, several Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) had over-the-month increases in March of 2024. Lewiston was the largest increase at 0.7% increase. Boise followed, then Pocatello, and Idaho Falls all saw increases as well.
