OGDEN, Utah - A Utah woman who was one of three people found dead near a rural southwestern Idaho farmhouse is being remembered as a retired teacher who was devoted to her student who were hearing impaired.
The Standard-Examiner in Ogden reports that 57-year-old Cheryl Baker spent more than three decades teaching at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind. School superintendent Michelle Tanner says Baker sometimes gave school supplies to kids in need and worked to secure grants.
Baker's husband, Gerald Michael "Mike" Bullinger is wanted by police in connection with her death. The bodies of Baker and the two others were found badly decomposed.
Former colleague Nancy Powers says Baker seemed happy in her marriage to Bullinger. She says the couple enjoyed camping, riding horses and river trips.
A message sent to KTVB from Barbara Lowe, Baker's friend, remembered her as caring teacher:
"Cheryl was a dear friend that I had the great privilege of knowing and working with her for one magical year at Mill Creek Elementary. She was a loving, caring, and very wise woman who loved all children, people and life. There was nothing that she couldn't do as she taught her students how to care about each other and take care of the earth. Through her efforts kids learned through field trips and hands on experiences about life, nature, creativity, and the wonderful world we live in! She loved much and was much loved! I will ever remember her light and love that she shared with us! She was an amazing soul! My prayers for peace and comfort go to all who were blessed to know and love her."
