BOISE, Idaho — The West Ada School District (WASD) is launching a new program called "Helping Hungry Minds." The program wants to make sure all children have access to healthy breakfasts and lunches.
The program gives people the opportunity to donate money to pay for a student's breakfast or lunch meal. They can also choose to pay for an entire week, month or even a year.
"If a student goes hungry, it negatively impacts their ability to learn," said Anne Brock, the WASD School Nutrition Services Supervisor, in a news release.
Here is the cost of the meals:
- One day of breakfast: $1.75 – One day of lunch: $2.80
- One week of breakfast: $8.75 – One week of lunch: $14.00
- One month of breakfast: $36.75 – One month of lunch: $58.80
- One year of breakfast: $313.25 – One year of lunch: $501.20
The program will run until the end of December.
