Fire activity ramps up in several areas

The Red Rock and Black Eagle fires have merged with substantial growth and a fire near Yellow Pine is estimated at 5,000 acres. Both have evacuations.

IDAHO, USA — As temperatures in the area are cooling down some fire activity is heating up. The Red Rock and Black Eagle fires have merged, combining to an estimated 50,000 acres. The Lemhi County Sheriff's Office has also issued several evacuation notices. Additionally, the Logan fire near Yellow Pine has burned 5,000 acres and also has evacuations. 

Red Rock and Black Eagle fires:

Both fires started over the summer and have now merged into one. The Lemhi County Sheriff's Office issued several evacuations for areas of Panther Creek, Forney, Moyer, Cobalt, Blackbird, and Leesburg.  Places along the US-93 corridor between Elk Bend and Salmon are on ready status.

The Logan Fire:

As of Saturday, Oct. 5 the Valley County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders for the Edwardsburg area and closed the Warren-Profile Gap Road between Elk Summit and Profile Summit.  The office also said the fire had reached Edwardsburg last night and "burned through the community and continued to burn on the northeast side of the airstrip into Smith Creek and further into the Wilderness.
