Brush fire breaks out near solar farm southeast of Kuna

BLM stated the fire was contained, and it burned 451 acres. Some of the solar panels were damaged.

BOISE, Idaho — Multiple fire departments responded to a fast-moving wildfire southeast of Kuna at a nearby solar farm Friday afternoon.

Bureau of Land Management crews on the scene told KTVB the fire started at roughly 3:20 p.m. at the edge of the solar farm near South Cloverdale Road and West Chiefs Farm Lane.

Authorities said the fire is contained, and crews were able to stop it at West Nicholson Road. It burned 451 acres.

BLM said the wind pushed the fire over the open ground as fire crews battled the flames.

Idaho Power temporarily cut the power to nearby powerlines as a precaution.

BLM stated no structures were burned, but the fire damaged some of the solar panels.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but officials said they are investigating.
