KENDRICK, Idaho — The Latah County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) reported that all evacuations have been lifted regarding the wildfire burning east of Kendrick, Idaho. All roads near the wildfire have also been reopened.
On Sunday, July 21, the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) stressed that as people return to their homes they should continue to be mindful of fire crews traveling along roads and working to contain the fire.
According to fire officials, the Texas Fire was started by humans.
The fire is being referred to by the IDL as the Texas fire.
The Texas fire continues to burn in the Potlach River Canyon near the junction of Texas Ridge Road and Cedar Ridge Road. Fire crews are still working to contain the fire and keep it from spreading.
Here's a rundown of what we know as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 23:
- IDL says the fire was threatening 50 to 60 structures, including homes, barns, and outbuildings on rural land
- Four primary residences, six outbuildings have been lost, according to IDL
- All evacuations have been lifted and roads have been reopened.
- 1,582 acres have burned
- The fire is 80% contained
- Evacuation Center set up at Kendrick High School
- Approximately 50 firefighters, including 2 crews, 2 engines, and 1 water tender will remain on the incident and continue to patrol the fire area
- A Red Cross evacuation center has been set up at Kendrick High School
- An incident command post has been set up at Deary High School
- Lewiston Roundup has offered space for any livestock impacted by the fire
- FEMA funds have been approved to help fight the wildfire
