BOISE - Thousands of you can't drive over the Broadway Bridge in Boise right now because it is being replaced. And you may be wondering if you'll be able to float under the bridge in an inner tube or raft when the Boise River floating season starts this summer.
So we went to the head of ITD to get the answer. Doug Petcash took the opportunity during the taping of this week's "Viewpoint" to ask Idaho Transportation Department Director Brian Ness if that part of the river will be open in time for floaters.
"Well, it's our hope that the floats will still go on. We plan on that, but you never know," said Ness. "Things happen in construction. If those things do happen, we'll communicate that very, very well, and we'll let people know what the alternates could be to floating in that portion of the river."
Director Ness also talks about the time frame of the Broadway Bridge project itself, how your tax dollars are being used to improve and maintain our roads and his efforts to streamline ITD to save money while providing better service.
Plus, we look at the status of the new bill to add the words "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" to the Idaho Human Rights Act. What are its chances of passing?
That's all on "Viewpoint" Sunday morning at 6:30 on Idaho's NewsChannel 7.
