BOISE, Idaho — A Boise woman died after she was hit by a car Saturday at the intersection of State Highway 55 near Beacon Light Road. Now sheriff's deputies are investigating why she jumped into traffic.
According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), they received a call around 8 p.m. of a woman walking into traffic. Another caller reported they had to swerve out of the way to miss hitting the woman who jumped in front of their car.
Police arrived at the intersection and found a 39-year-old woman lying injured on the ground, ACSO said. A Toyota SUV was parked on the side of the road and had damage on its front driver's side.
ACSO said Ada County Paramedics and Eagle Fire responded and took the woman to the hospital. Around 10 p.m., she was declared dead at the hospital.
The Ada County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Laura Maynez, as determined she died of blunt force injuries caused by the crash.
Police interviewed the driver of the Toyota and eyewitnesses, ACSO said. Police are still investigating the incident, and no charges have been filed.
