TWIN FALLS, Idaho — A Rock Creek Fire Protection District firefighter was hit by a car early Nov. 8, according to a news release from Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office (TFCSO).
The sheriff's office said, around 7:20 a.m., emergency crews reported a two-vehicle crash around Addison Avenue E near 3700 E. A firefighter from Rock Creek prevented a collision when he stopped a woman driver who was going to hit an oncoming vehicle. However, once the vehicle passed, the woman driving a blue SUV with 2T plates accelerated and hit the firefighter, then fled the scene.
The firefighter was taken to the hospital for his injuries, the sheriff's office said.
"Because of your poor decision and lack of common sense, you have taken away a firefighter to be able to serve their community," the Rock Creek Fire Protection District said in a Facebook post. "Our firefighter is ok, just sore."
The TFCSO is seeking more information regarding the female driver. According to the news release, there should be some damage on the passenger side front panel or mirror and was described as wearing a baseball hat with brunette hair. She was traveling west, towards Twin Falls.
TFCSO is asking anyone who observed this incident or has more information about the female driver to call SIRCOMM at 208-735-1911.
