WORLEY, Idaho — With the help of some peanut butter, Worley, Idaho, firefighters were able to rescue a puppy that was stuck in a culvert pipe a few days ago.
According to a Facebook Post from Worley/MKI Firefighters IAFF Local 5005, firefighters responded to reports of a puppy stuck in a culvert pipe on Saturday, September 14.
The Facebook post said the puppy was around 40 feet down the pipe. The pipe was too small for firefighters to fit in to rescue the puppy, but the community stepped in to help out.
Firefighters and community members started to dig down to expose the culvert before an excavator arrived to help dig.
The post said the puppy, named Charlie, was about 10 feet further down the pipe, and Charlie was stuck at a joint and couldn't crawl.
However, thanks to some peanut butter and a PVC pipe with a "pet loop" on it, firefighters were able to get Charlie out of the pipe.
Firefighters thanked the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and Rock Solid Brush Control and Excavation for their help in getting Charlie out of the culvert pipe.
"We want to extend a huge thank you to the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department for bringing their fiber optic camera out," the post read. "It was instrumental in locating Charlie in the pipe and helping us find where to reach him. We also want to extend a huge thank you to all of the community members who came out and helped in the digging effort until the excavator arrived from Rock Solid Brush Control & Excavation."
