Man arrested after high speed chase on I-84

BOISE -- One man is in custody after a destructive high speed chase along I-84 and through Boise.

Idaho State Police say the chase started just after 3:30 p.m. when 33-year-old Scott Stanton of Payette hit another car on eastbound I-84 in Nampa.

Stanton fled police and headed eastbound on I-84, reaching speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

The pursuit was called off after the driver exited at River Street in Boise.

Just minutes later, Boise Police located Stanton's vehicle near on Apple Street. Stanton began taunting the officers and driving in circles, at which point the pursuit was re-engaged.

Officers attempted several unsuccessful PIT maneuvers before ultimately putting Stanton's truck into a fence near the Royal Body Works auto body shop between Royal Blvd. and Island Ave. on Lusk Street.

Stanton was taken into custody and is charged with felony fleeing and eluding police and felony assault or battery upon personnel.

Four police vehicles and two other vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

No injuries were reported.
