Sarah Palin blasts ESPN over Curt Schilling firing, calling it a 'screw up'

Sarah Palin criticized ESPN over its recent firing of Curt Schilling after the baseball broadcaster made comments that sparked outrage among the transgender community.

Palin’s comments accompanied a political cartoon posted Thursday to Facebook.

“ESPN continues to screw up,” she wrote, linking to a Hollywood Reporter article on Schilling’s firing, which happened Wednesday.

By “continues,” Palin presumably alluded to Schilling’s controversy last August with ESPN, when the network suspended him for publishing an image comparing Muslims to Germans during the Nazi era. He later deleted it.

Palin came to Schilling’s defense then, too, posting a lengthy commentary to Facebook accusing ESPN of buying “into the propaganda of ISIS.”

On Thursday, Palin’s post included a political cartoon chiding the backlash over bills — one recently became law in North Carolina — aimed at preventing transgender people from using restrooms that don’t match their gender at birth.

Schilling himself published a meme to Facebook on the same topic Tuesday, also apparently aimed at the North Carolina controversy. He later deleted it.

Schilling, a three-time World Series winner who pitched 19 seasons, had worked at ESPN since 2010.

Palin is a reality TV show star, commentator and one-time governor of Alaska.
