Veteran guard Jerryd Bayless and the Philadelphia 76ers have reached a three-year, $27 million agreement, a person with knowledge of the contract told USA TODAY Sports.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal can't be formally signed until the free agency moratorium lifts on July 7.
Bayless spent the majority of the past two seasons coming off the bench for the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 9.1 points, 3.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds. Before Milwaukee, Bayless had a lengthy resume of NBA teams, including the Memphis Grizzlies, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers. He has career averages of 8.5 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.1 rebounds.
He will join Philadelphia squad without much competition at the starting point guard spot, although rookie forward Ben Simmons will likely do a lot of the ball handling next season.
The Associated Press first reported the agreement.
