Veterans Day 2024 free meals and other deals in southern Idaho for those who served

Many Idaho businesses and national chains are saying "thank you" with holiday offers for current and former service members.

BOISE, Idaho — Food and drink, compliments of the house, have become a tradition for many restaurants in Idaho and around the nation to thank veterans and those still serving in the U.S. military.

Below is a list of offers from businesses operating in southern Idaho. Some of the food and drink discounts or freebies come with limits on the dollar amount or limit the offer to choices from a special menu. Customers are asked to show proof of U.S. military service such as a military identification card, a state-issued ID indicating veteran status, or Form DD 214.

Unless otherwise noted, the offers are for Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2024.

The offers are at participating locations. Please double-check with the location you plan to visit.

Food and drink offers

Applebee's -- Veterans and active-duty military can select a free meal from a limited menu on Veterans Day. Veterans will also receive a $5 bounce back card. (details on Applebee's website). Proof of service is required.

Bear Island Brewing Co. -- 1620 N. Liberty St., Boise (just off Fairview in former Boise Fire Station No. 6): First pint free (4 to 7 p.m.) and 50% off after that; valid for U.S. veterans and active duty with proof of service. On Nov. 11 only. 

Chili’s Grill & Bar – All Veterans and active-duty military personnel can choose a complimentary meal from a select menu on Veterans Day.

Denny’s will be offering any veterans or active-duty military with a valid ID a free Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m. until noon on Monday, Nov. 11.

Dunkin' - Want a donut? Dunkin' is offering active and retired military personnel a free donut on Nov. 11, with a limit of one per guest while supplies last. 

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers – On Veterans Day, receive free Freddy’s combo meal. 

Golden Corral – November 11, 2024: Veterans and current servicemembers receive a free “thank you” buffet dinner.

IHOP - The International House of Pancakes is celebrating Veterans Day by giving free Red White, and Blueberry Pancake Combo meals to any veterans who come in on Nov. 11 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 

In-N-Out - Veterans can get a free meal on Nov. 11 with proof of military service.

Krispy Kreme Free Doughnut & Coffee – On Veterans Day, a doughnut and coffee will be on the house.

Little Caesars – On Veterans Day, veterans and active-duty military can get a free Lunch Combo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Little Caesars. Only select Little Caesars are participating, so make sure you call ahead to your local one before you head over.

Maverik is offering all active military personnel and veterans a complimentary hot beverage on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11. 

Melting Pot - On Veterans Day, Melting Pot will offer Veterans a complimentary four-course meal with the purchase of another four-course meal.

MOD Pizza - MOD Pizza is giving a mega cookie away to veterans and their spouses on Veterans Day.

Olive Garden – This Veterans Day, Olive Garden is offering veterans and active-duty service members a free entree from a special menu. All entrees include Olive Garden’s famous breadsticks and choice of soup or salad. Only eligible for dine-in. 

Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom - On Veterans Day, veterans can enjoy a complimentary entree from an exclusive menu.

Outback Steakhouse – This Veterans Day, all military Veterans and active service members can enjoy a free bloomin’ onion and Coca-Cola.

Quinn's Restaurant -The day before Veterans Day, Nov. 10, Quinn's is hosting the United States Marine Corps 249th Birthday Celebration. 

Red Lobster – In honor of Veterans Day, and to thank veterans, active-duty military and reservists for their service, Red Lobster is offering guests a free Walt’s Favorite Shrimp, Fries, and Coleslaw, featuring six hand-breaded, butterflied and lightly fried shrimp, served with cocktail sauce, as well as crispy French Fries and Coleslaw. The offer is available for dine-in and To Go orders placed in-restaurant between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. local time on Monday, November 11, 2024. Guests only need to show a valid military ID or proof of service to redeem this offer.

Red Robin – One free Big Red’s Tavern Burger with Bottomless Steak Fries for Veterans and active-duty military on Nov. 11. Dine-in only.

Reed's Dairy - Reed's Dairy is honoring Veterans and active duty military with a free waffle cone at their stores. Only valid on Veteran's Day at their Idaho Falls, Ammon, Twin Falls, Kuna, Meridian and Boise locations. 

Starbucks – On Veterans Day, active-duty service members, Reservists, Veterans and military spouses are invited to enjoy a free tall (12-ounce) hot brewed or iced coffee at participating Starbucks stores.

Taco John’s (only in Twin Falls & Grangeville) – On Veterans Day, all active, reserve, retired and honorably discharged members of the U.S. military can get a free small beef #1 combo meal.

TCBY – First six ounces of frozen yogurt are free for Veterans and active military on Veterans Day.

Texas Roadhouse – On Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Veterans can drive to their closest Texas Roadhouse and pick up a meal voucher with a valid military ID or proof of service. Contact your local location for details. 

Treasure Valley Subaru - The annual Veterans Luncheon will take place Nov. 11 at 12 p.m. at the Treasure Valley Subaru dealership.  This event is open to Veterans and their families. 

Tucanos – Free churrasco meal on Veterans Day with the purchase of another churrasco meal (or a half-price meal available for Veterans dining solo). See location for more details. 

Twin Peaks – All Veterans, active-duty military and reservists can eat a free lunch (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) from a select menu on Veterans Day.

Wendy’s – Wendy’s nationwide are offering a free small breakfast combo with a valid military ID on Veterans Day.  Dine in or drive thru only. At participating locations. 

Winco - Veterans and active-duty military members may receive one free donut from Winco. Veterans can pick out their favorite from the bakery counter. When checking out, let the cashier know about your veteran status. 

Yard House – Veterans and active-duty military will receive a complimentary appetizer on Veterans Day with a valid military ID. The offer is valid for dine-in only.

Limited-time discounts

Texas de Brazil – Veterans receive 25% off dinner from Nov. 6 to Nov. 12.

Kohl’s – Nov. 11: 30% off in stores for active and former military personnel, veterans and their immediate families with a valid military ID.

Target - Target is offering a 10% military discount from October 29 through November 11 to all active duty military personnel, Veterans and their families.

NAPA - NAPA Auto Care Centers in the Treasure Valley are giving free oil changes to veterans and active military personnel on Friday, Nov. 8 and Monday, Nov. 11 for the 24th consecutive year. Appointments need to be made ahead of time to take advantage of the deal.

Tractor Supply Company - On November 11, active duty service members and Veterans receive a 10% discount. Must complete Hometown Hero verification process through Neighbor’s Club to receive discount.

Haircut deals

Great Clips – Veterans and active-duty military can visit a U.S. Great Clips salon on November 11 to receive a free haircut that day. Visit the Great Clips website for details.

Sports Clips – Some locations will be offering free haircuts to Veterans and active-duty service members on November 11. Visit the Sports Clips website for details and participating locations.
