MALHEUR COUNTY, Ore. — A Payette man is dead after crashing into a semi truck parked on the shoulder of Oregon Highway 201 on Nov. 21.
The crash happened on Thursday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. and shut the highway down for about two hours.
Oregon State Police say Tommy Smith, 48, from Payette, was driving a 2019 Chevy 3500 Silverado when he drifted onto the shoulder of Oregon Highway 201 and hit a parked semi.
It is unknown what caused Smith to drift off the road.
Jeffery Campbell, 55, from Nampa, was sitting inside the semi truck at the time of the crash.
Campbell was not injured in the accident.
Smith, however, was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced deceased.
