MERIDIAN, Idaho — A woman who sparked a search after walking away from St. Luke's Meridian Medical Center Thursday afternoon has been found safe.

Linda Monroe, 75, was returned to the facility Friday morning.

Police said Monroe, who is classified as vulnerable and unable to care for herself, wandered away from the hospital at about 1 p.m. Thursday. She lived only about a mile and a half from the hospital, but officers were unable to locate her overnight.

But Friday morning, police say, Monroe showed up at a previously-scheduled doctor's appointment in Boise. Staff there called her family, who alerted Meridian Police at about 10 a.m.

Officers responded and brought Monroe back to St. Luke's. It's unclear where she stayed in the time between leaving the hospital and arriving at her appointment Friday.
