The two-year-old girl was found at a roadside checkpoint near Santa Ana, Mexico. Her father now faces charges in Whitman County for custodial interference.

PULLMAN, Wash. — A two-year-old child missing out of Pullman has been located in Mexico, and their father is being held at a detention center in Arizona on custodial interference charges.

According to Pullman police,  the two-year-old girl was found at a roadside checkpoint near Santa Ana, Mexico. She was traveling with her biological father, Aaron Aung, and his fiancée, 21-year-old Nadia Cole.

Cole was reported missing at SeaTac at the end of May and was believed to be traveling with Aung, whose whereabouts were unknown at the time.

Aung and Cole were detained by authorities in Mexico and then turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The FBI coordinated with authorities at the National Institute of Migration, Mexican State Police, the Nogales Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection to locate the child and return her home safely. The girl has been placed in the care of Arizona Child Protective Services.

Aung is currently being held at the Santa Cruz County Detention Center in Nogales, Arizona, awaiting extradition back to Whitman County where he will face charges related to custodial interference.
