1 dead after single engine air tanker goes missing in Oregon

A Falls Fire representative announced that the missing single engine air tanker (SEAT) plane was found, and the pilot is dead.

OREGON, USA — In an update around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, a Falls Fire representative announced that the missing single engine air tanker (SEAT) plane was found, and the pilot is dead. 

The plane was dispatched near Seneca, Oregon. 

The plane went missing around 6:53 p.m. Thursday night, after assisting on a lightning start in the vicinity of the Falls fire. On Friday, about mid-day, it was confirmed that the plane was found and the plane's only passenger, a pilot, was found deceased. 

Officials from Grant County are working to notify the family.

The Falls fire is at 141,926 acres and 55% contained, as of Friday morning.
