Spokane listed as proposed Team Base Camp for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Spokane and Boise are locations that have been named as a proposed Team Base Camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane has been named as a proposed Team Base Camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A Team Base Camp acts as a home away from home for teams in the tournament, working as a main place for teams to train, rest and prepare for games during the group stage.

The teams assigned to Spokane's Team Base Camp will train at Gonzaga University. A hotel has not been determined yet.

Regionally, Seattle's Lumen Field will host six World Cup games.

Renton, Washington, and Boise, Idaho, have also been named as proposed Team Base Camp sites. More teams will be added through 2025 before the Final Draw in December 2025.

"We are excited for the opportunity to host a FIFA World Cup 2026 team in Spokane," Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown said. "This announcement underscores Spokane's growing reputation as a sports destination city and a key part of the statewide efforts to welcome the world's game to communities throughout Washington. We look forward to next steps in the planning process, and the building anticipation as we get closer to the tournament."

"We are incredibly honored that Gonzaga University has been selected as a proposed team base camp for FIFA World Cup 2026," Gonzaga President Thayne McCulloj said. "We look forward to providing world-class facilities and a supportive environment for the teams, contributing to the success of this prestigious global event. Hosting teams from around the world will not only enhance our campus but also unite our community in the spirit of international sportsmanship."

“Spokane has earned its reputation as a premier destination for sporting events, consistently delivering exceptional experiences for athletes, teams, and fans alike," Ashley Blake, CEO of Spokane Sports, said. "As an experienced host city, we are ready to provide a world-class welcome to any FIFA World Cup 2026 team that selects Spokane as its base camp. Our community’s passion for sports and hospitality ensures an unforgettable experience, both on and off the field.”
