Athletic Bilbao defeats Club Tijuana in historic event

BOISE -- Thousands turned out for Boise's first international soccer game at Albertsons Stadium Saturday night between Spain's Athletic Bilbao and Mexico's Club Tijuana.

Athletic Bilbao wasted no time getting the game going. In the third minute, striker Kike Sola headed the ball into the goal off a beautiful cross from his teammate.

Just 20 minutes later, Athletic Bilbao midfielder Beñat would dribble the ball to goal, beating the Mexican keeper to make it 2-0.

Club Tijuana's Michael Orozco went down with an injury late in the first half, but was able to reenter the game before the halftime whistle.

Athletic Bilbao out shot Club Tijuana 6-2 in the first half.

Both teams had several shots on goal in the second half, but neither team could find the back of the net.

Athletic Bilbao defeated Club Tijuana 2-0.

The total announced attendance at Albertsons Stadium: 21,948.
