BOISE — The Boise State football team has been practicing indoors under intense heat to prepare for the harsh and humid conditions in the south.
Boise State will head to Alabama to face Troy as their opening game on September 1.
As Boise's weather is completely different compared to the south, the Broncos are turning up the heat in their indoor sports complex to mimic the humidity.
With a little over two weeks to prepare, cranking up the thermostat isn't a new strategy by Coach Bryan Harsin.
"The same thing we did a couple years back. Trying to recreate an environment. Heat up a little bit, change it up, different situations, get them thinking," Harsin said.
Broncos first two road games will be played in the south. Kicking off the season at Troy, Alabama and then traveling to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma State.
Historically, weather in Troy and Stillwater reach the mid to late 80s with humidity ranging from 60 to 80 percent.
