BOISE, Idaho — The eighth-ranked College of Idaho Coyotes extended their winning streak to 11 games on Saturday after beating the Carroll College Saints 47-7 in Helena, MT.
The Yotes (5-0) haven't lost a game in over a year and were at little risk to have that winning streak snap against the Saints. The College of Idaho ended the first quarter with a 9-7 lead but went into halftime leading 19-7.
Their lead grew to 19 points after an 18-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Darius James-Peterson in the middle of the third quarter. James-Peterson would throw another touchdown pass with under six minutes to play in the third to put the Yotes up 33-7.
The Yotes' busy third quarter didn't end there, as they capitalized on a costly Saints turnover in their own territory. Senior running back Justin Hellyer ran 19 yards for a touchdown, making the score 40-7.
Junior running back Nick Calzaretta scored on a two-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth to put the Yotes up 47-7.
In the fourth quarter, Carroll College threw a touchdown pass in the final minutes to bring the final score to 47-14.
The Yotes are now on an 11-game winning streak, which started in the middle of last season.
On Saturday, Oct. 19, the No. 8 Yotes will return to Caldwell to host the No. 22 Montana Tech Orediggers at 1 p.m. The two teams played in Butte, MT on Sept. 7 and the Yotes won 28-14.
