TULSA, Oklahoma -- It may not have been the outcome they'd hoped for, but the FC NovaNationals made history Saturday night.
The team from Idaho defeated their opponent, Nebraska's Gretna Prima Green, 2-1 on Thursday to claim a spot in the U19 national championship.
The game would remain scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation play and two, 15-minute overtime periods and eventually decided by penalty kicks.
NovaNationals would fall 4-1 on penalty kicks, claiming a second-place finish in the tournament, the highest finish of any Idaho team.
Grace Hancock, Hallie Winder and Sasha Holt were named to the 11-player tournament team for their performances.
Holt also received the Golden Glove award for the tournament, which is given to the player with the greatest competitive impact in the tournament.
FC NovaNationals did not concede a goal the entire tournament.
